Honolulu, 20 December 2011

Ocean VolumeMakai Ocean Engineering, Inc. has released a new demonstration version of its geospatial visualization software, Makai Voyager. The new release, available at http://voyager.makai.com, demonstrates Makai Voyager’s advanced volumetric data visualization and analysis capabilities.

Makai Voyager provides users with an easy to access, cross-platform software package to process, analyze, fuse, and display vast amounts of scientific and GIS data being collected and simulated in the earth, ocean, and atmosphere.

The 1.1 update is a major release, and includes many new features:

  • Volume rendering of large 4D data models;
  • Display of dynamic data on the ocean surface;
  • Customizable graphs of scientific data; and,
  • Faster streaming and improved WMS support.

The downloadable demo contains many of the scientific visualization capabilities of the Makai Voyager software platform. The full version of Makai Voyager will contain a wide variety of data import and fusion tools to import and process GIS and scientific data, and provide users with access to add-on modules for specific tasks (e.g., LIDAR analysis). Makai Voyager is cross-platform software, and runs on Windows (32- and 64-bit), Linux, and Mac OS X.

Makai Releases Free Evaluation Version of a New Scientific Visualization Software
Honolulu, 15 August 2011

Hurricane IsabelMakai Ocean Engineering has released a demo version of their highly anticipated software, Makai Voyager. The driving motivation behind its development is to provide scientists with an easy to use program to process, analyze, and display the exponentially increasing amount of data being collected from atmospheric and other sensors around the globe.

The full version will allow users to view and interact with large and complex scientific datasets in an immersive 3D environment. The program runs on a standard desktop PC running Windows, Mac OSX, or Linux, and can handle a wide range of data, including: terrain imagery, elevation, LIDAR, volumetric and flow data, KML objects, and more. A free viewer will allow clients to view and analyze data that has been pre-processed by the full version. Software modules specific to various scientific fields are currently under development.

The general public is invited to visit http://voyager.makai.com to download and test the free demo version 1.0, which will include capabilities for viewing terrain imagery, elevation, LIDAR, and web map services (WMS) datasets. Beta testers will explore 3D landscapes and influence the direction of the software development. Demo version 1.1 will feature volume and flow data capabilities, and is expected to be released in the first half of September.

Makai Receives PICHTR contract for Tactical Displays
Honolulu, 12 April 2011

Tactical Display for Submarine Detection Makai has received a grant from the Pacific International Center for High Technology Research (PICHTR) to produce a new geocentric tactical and environmental display software (TSD) with multi-dimensional acoustic data analysis capabilities. The software will be designed to operate on-board MPRA aircraft and be used in real-time during anti-submarine missions to provide improved visualization and faster tactical decision making.
