Behind The Scenes ...

The Makai Voyager software has been developed by Makai Ocean Engineering, Inc. based out of Waimanalo, Hawaii. Founded in 1973, Makai has providing innovative engineering solutions for ocean-based applications. In 1987, Makai started it's Software Division when the U.S. Department of Energy required a software tool to install a large submarine power cable from the Big Island of Hawaii to harness geothermal energy. In 2007, Makai started it's Advanced Visualization Software Division to address the U.S. Navy's need to visualize and analyze massive amounts of ocean data -- both simulated and observed -- that changes in space and time.
